Rachael started work as a legal clerk in 2007 after completing her Law Degree (LLB) at Teesside University and completed her LPC qualification on a part time basis whilst working full time. Rachael qualified as a solicitor in October 2012.
Since August 2013 Rachael has specialised in the complex area of mental health. This is a very fast moving and demanding area and Rachael is well respected. She represents clients at Mental Health Tribunals, Managers Meetings and CPAs.
Rachael has been an accredited member of the Law Society’s Mental Health Scheme since 1st August 2015 and as such is one of a small group of solicitors on Teesside who can represent clients who have been detained under the Mental Health Act at mental health tribunals. This representation is eligible for legal aid.
Rachael has a passion to support individuals living with dementia. After becoming recognised as a ‘Dementia Friend’ in 2016, she later progressed to a ‘Dementia Champion’. Through her work the firm was awarded a certificate in April 2016 for ‘working to become Dementia Friendly’, following recognition by Dementia Friendly Middlesbrough and Cleveland Alzheimer’s Residential Centre Limited.
