Family Fee Earner

We are seeking a motivated experienced fee earner to work independently in our busy Family department which covers a wide variety of areas including divorce, financial remedy, separation, injunction and public and private children matters.

You will be required to take instructions and provide advice, showing an ability to work to tight deadlines, prioritising your workload and progressing matters accordingly.  You will need to have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and be able to demonstrate good interpersonal skills with a range of people from all backgrounds and work as a team member with different levels of staff. You will need to be self-serving using Microsoft packages and have a current full driving licence.

Accustomed to handling matters from inception to completion, and experience of conducting your own advocacy, the successful candidate will take over an existing caseload of mixed privately funded and legal aid cases in respect of divorce, financial remedy, private children matters and child care. A demonstrable appreciation of good practice in private client billing procedures and legal aid applications is required.

The successful candidate will promote the department together with the firm.

Apprentice – Ingleby Barwick

We are seeking to recruit an Apprentice to study towards Customer Service Level 2 or Business Administration Level 3, depending upon experience.

You must be reliable, well presented and polite with a friendly telephone manner and a can-do attitude.

Your day will be varied. Your training and work will consist of answering the telephone, taking payments, making meeting room bookings, taking copies of identity documents, dealing with incoming and outgoing post, ordering stationery, opening and closing files and processing requests for documents. There will be a necessity to maintain the firm’s external document storage systems database and therefore accuracy and attention to detail is very important. Some experience of Excel would be advantageous along with a good understanding of Word and Outlook. You will ideally need to hold a GCSE grade 4 or above in Maths and English.

Residential Conveyancing Fee earner – Coulby Newham

We are seeking applications from experienced residential conveyancing fee earners/case workers to join our busy team based at our Coulby Newham branch office on a full time basis.

With a proven track record of managing your own caseload covering freehold, leasehold, registered/unregistered, shared ownership and new build properties, the ability to manage a full caseload of purchases, sales, remortgages and transfers of equity from inception to conclusion is essential along with the confidence to maintain relationships with clients, solicitors, mortgage lenders, brokers and colleagues.

You will be required to process matters in accordance with CQS and Lexcel standards and in line with the UK Finance and Mortgage Lenders Handbook.

You will be carrying out AML checks, undertaking searches, raising/answering enquiries, preparing legal documents, reporting on title, carrying out tasks at all stages of the process including exchange, completion and post completion work together with undertaking independent file reviews to consider the legal aspect of the matter.
