We are one of the few firms in this area who undertake Mental Health work.

We are approved as specialists by the Legal Services Commission and hold a contract with them together with a Specialist Quality Mark. This means that, in most cases, we are able to provide representation before the Mental Health Review Tribunal without any financial contribution from our client.

As members of the Law Society’s Mental Health Review Tribunal Panel and Mental Health Lawyer’s Association, we have substantial experience in this complex and specialist area. We cannot emphasise enough the importance of seeking specialist advice on these issues.

We provide advice where someone has been compulsorily detained (‘Sectioned’) under the Mental Health Act whether this is on the basis of a civil detention (‘unrestricted’) or following an order of the criminal courts (‘restricted’). We will meet with the patient and act for them direct in putting forward their views and provide detailed advice. Additionally, we also act for and advise the ‘nearest relative’ at this very difficult time.

We are aware that this is a difficult time for all concerned and want to ensure the best possible advice is available and would therefore urge you to contact our specialists in this field :-
